The Rule Family Shield
Deddington Tennis Club Junior Player of the Season
This is a new award donated by Su Smith, the daughter of Jeanne Wales, an
ex-villager keen to leave a lasting legacy for her beloved village of
Deddington.
It's awarded each year to the junior player who is considered to have been
the Junior Player of the Season.
It doesn’t necessarily mean the best player; the following criteria will
also be taken into consideration by our Club Coach:
the most improved player
the player with the best attitude
the player who has attended the most coaching sessions
the player who has played in the most matches
a combination of these and other relevant points
The 2021 winner is Dom Elvin.
Dom has shown great enthusiasm for tennis this year and always has a really
positive attitude on and off court.

He takes part in two group sessions and one to one coaching, he has joined
the junior teams and has actively encouraged friends to come along to the
club and play with him outside lessons.
He has also shown a big improvement as a player.
Well done Dom.
Ben Jones is the 2019 Junior player
of the season and the latest recipient of the Rule Family shield.

Ben has improved immensely
over the last year and this has been shown in his commitment to attending
weekly coaching sessions, being part of the u12 junior team who were semi
finalists and the u14 junior team who were the winners in their competition.
Ben has also been selected to attend Oxfordshire county coaching for his age
group and made his debut for the Deddington Adult teams.
Well done Ben.
James Midgley is the first
recipient of this award.

In awarding the shield to
James, Club Coach Paul Taylor felt that James’ overall attitude when being
coached and playing matches, together with his commitment to tennis and to
representing Deddington Tennis Club at virtually every Junior tennis match
and Tournament singled him out as a very deserving winner.
Congratulations to James and his family for their support.
We hope you will continue your progress for many year to come.
