History
How the Club started
Click here for a fascinating insight into the club origins
by Rob Forsyth (one of the founding members, and original Chair
of Deddington Tennis Club).
There's an interesting fund
raising letter here.
Today
Tennis Club
can be found in the Windmill Centre Sports Complex, off the Hempton Road, and has been situated on this site since the early
1980’s.
The tennis facility consists of three “all weather”
hardcourts
(resurfaced in 1999) with weekend access to a fourth court with
artificial grass surface.
There's a clubhouse
pavilion with veranda, heating and electricity including a room heater. The clubhouse has keypad
access and the court key is kept inside.
In 2017 we were proud to
have installed state of the art LED floodlights to two of the courts so play
is now possible all the year round.
As well as the
pavilion, club members are able to use the Windmill Centre
facilities, which includes: toilets, showers and kitchen.
The Club caters
for all standards of tennis, whether it is competitive, social
or just a means of becoming a little fitter. All are welcome. A
full programme of activities includes: club nights, tournaments,
family sessions, ladies and mixed matches throughout the year
together with regular coaching courses for those of all ages
wishing to improve their tennis skills.
